Dandruff is caused by a reaction to yeast the is found on the skin which can lead to excess skin cell growth, so to get rid of dandruff on the scalp you need to use something to kill the yeast. I’ve struggled with dandruff for years. I have tried Selsun blue shampoos, head & shoulders and Neutrogena t-gel anti dandruff shampoo, and none of these shampoos worked for me. But better than using shampoos to get rid of the dandruff I’ve found that tea tree oil is a natural remedy. To use, mix 1-2 drops of pure tea tree oil in your palm with your shampoo. Apply to your scalp and wash as normal. You will see results after 1-2 uses. The image below is the tea tree flower.
Additional uses for tea tree oil:
- Acne – Tea tree oil has anti bacterial properties, making it a great acne fighting ingredient. Dilute tea tree oil with water and apply on a q-tip to acne prone areas. Make sure your face is clean before applying.
- Foot care – Our feet are prone to bacteria overgrowth so you can use tea tree oil to freshen your feet. Mix 2-3 drops of pure tea tree oil with soap before washing your feet.
- Wart removal – Tea tree oil also has anti fungal properties, making it a great natural wart remover. Dab a q-tip into tea tree oil diluted with water and apply to clean skin. You should see results in 1-2 days.
- Oral Care – You can make your own natural mouthwash with tea tree oil. Simply add 8 ounces of distilled water to a jar and add 2 drops of tea tree oil, and 2 drops of peppermint essential oil. The peppermint oil is optional because it just adds a pleasant scent and taste to the mouthwash. The tea tree oil is the main ingredient for the mouthwash as it will kill bacteria in your mouth.
